Invercargill to Kakapoint.

The road along the famous Highway 1 is in good condition, with little traffic and clear road signs, so it's basically a smooth ride.

1. Papatowai
- Walk into the forest, see the wild birds, listen to their music, and see one of the most photogenic waterfalls in New Zealand, Purakaunui Falls.
- The famous Purakaunui Falls is an important landmark in the Catlins region, and the most photographed waterfall in New Zealand, which has appeared on various calendars and postcards. The waterfall is hidden in the leafy bush, and the rapid flow of water pours down from a height of 20 meters, which is blocked by the rocks and divided into three steps. It is one of the most popular spots for photographers.
- Walk from the parking lot to the falls - 20 minutes round trip.

2. Nugget Point
- A lighthouse stands on a steep cliff with many rocky islets scattered around it, and the scenery is stunning.
- Looking down from the lighthouse, you can see many seals lazily lying on the rocks or swimming among the rocks. Bring a telescope and you will be able to experience the life of a seal colony up close.
- Cape Nugget is also home to sea lions, grey gulls, herons, yellow-eyed penguins, grasshopper herons and pond geese. Walrus and leopard seals also occasionally visit the area.
- The trail takes you on an easy walk from Nugget Point to Roaring Bay, where you can secretly "hide" and wait for the yellow-eyed penguins to appear for a romantic encounter. Early morning and sunset are the best times to see the penguins.

Kakapoint to Dunedin , north to Oamaru.

This is the Route 1 north to Christchurch via Dunedin, and it often offers unexpected views along the way

1. Tunnel Beach
You will see sandstone cliffs, rock arches and caves washed by the waves. It is a 15-minute walk off the road. Tunnel Beach is located just off the Dunedin-Brighton coastal road.
This is a spot I was pointed out to by a local when I first drove my camper in 2003 that was not covered by Animal Planet. We met very friendly indigenous people who went down to the sea and then surfaced shortly afterwards to give us a lift to Oyster, we were stupid enough to say thank you but didn't ask for it. Ha!

2. Balclutha
- Balclutha is a small town in Otago District, South Island, New Zealand.
- Nearby tourist attractions include Lake Tuakitoto near Benhar/ Kaitangata, Matai Falls, and many more.
- Watching the yellow-eyed penguins bred by Balclosa is also another fun not to be missed.

3. Dunedin
 - A city full of culture with numerous historic buildings, museums, bird sanctuaries, etc. The city still retains many typical Scottish-style buildings and has been described as "the most Scottish city outside of Scotland".
- Dunedin Railways Station
Built in 1903, it is New Zealand's first railway station and a national treasure. According to the records, this huge building is made of "black basalt" and "white limestone" from Oamaru. The clock tower on the right side is 37 meters high, with a roof surrounded by a Gothic-like shape with sharp corners, black and white exterior walls, and a red tile roof.
- Larnach Castle
It is the only castle in New Zealand, located on the Otago Peninsula's rolling hills.
- St Paul's Cathedral
St Paul's Cathedral was built in 1862 and is located next to the Octagon Square, close to the event center and Old Town Hall.
- Baldwin Street
The steepest street in the world, the fun-filled Dunedin Arts Festival is held here every summer, attracting visitors from all over the world. Here people can feel the folklore of Dunedin and experience the fun of living on this steep street.

4. Moeraki Boulders
The legendary "Moeraki Boulders" of Narnia
- The huge round boulders, like dinosaur eggs, line the beach and are so wonderful and bizarre!
According to the records, these mysterious boulders weigh several tons and are two meters high!
- In fact, when we went there in 2003, it was not damaged by the waves anymore.
[It takes about 75km from Dunedin Dunedin north to the Morachi Rocks]

5. Oamaru
- Oamaru is the largest Maori town in North Otago, South Island.
- Oamaru harbour is home to a colony of little blue penguins, which are particularly close to humans and nest in the bay area. They are about to swim back to the shore, over the steep rocks, and head for their nests with the day's catch;
In fact, if you're lucky, you don't need to pay to see the penguins at the Blue Penguin Conservation Center].
- Whitestone City
As the most prosperous port city in the 19th century, if you come to Oamaru without enjoying the Victorian elegance, riding a vintage two-wheeled bicycle, or changing into a Victorian European puffy dress or tuxedo, then you are really missing half of Oamaru.
And the town of Whitestone (Whitestone City).
Built in 1882, Whitestone City is located in a surviving barn with a perfect blend of New Zealand's Victorian streetscape. It is an indoor experience that used to be a key site in Oamaru.

2. Quake City Cathedral and Earthquake Site & Christchurch Cathedral Christchurch Cathedral Site
- This is a collection of materials and objects from the two devastating earthquakes in Christchurch in 2010 and 2011.

Today, although the buzz is gone, Christchurch Cathedral is being transformed into one of Christchurch's most iconic earthquake sites, restoring the city center to its former glory.

3. Christchurch Tram Vintage Tram
【Price: Adult $25/person

HARGA TIDAK TERMASUK

1. Malaysia - Christchurch return flight
It is recommended to arrive at Christchurch airport before noon. This will allow you to arrive at Lake Tekapo before sunset on the first day.

2. Campervan rental fee (usually mandatory for a minimum of 7 days), fuel, camping fees, insurance, etc.
It is recommended to pick up and return the car in the same city. This way, there is no additional cost of about NZD 200. For example, pick up the car in Christchurch and return it in Christchurch as well.

There are many car rental companies near the airport, we recommend campervan companies including
- Motorhome Republic : https://shorturl.at/glHS3
- Maui Motorhome : https://www.maui-rentals.com/nz/en#

3. Driving License
Malaysia is a Commonwealth country and the driver's license is accepted as it is bilingual [Malaysian and English]. However, if you are worried, you can go to the Land Transport Department [JPJ] and pay RM 10 to get a duplicate copy just in case. All license holders can register as a driver when you pick up your car, then you can drive a campervan in New Zealand.

Recommended campsite apps/websites
1. CamperMate
It is convenient to reserve a campsite parking space before arrival [In high season, it may be full, but don't worry, there are several companies that provide parking at each location].
